AIKM, in collaboration with Library, Archives and Information Technology Department, at Cairo University, organized a one-day workshop titled “The Positive Impact of Emotional Intelligence (EI) on the performance of Librarians and Information Specialists” in May 16, 2022 at the department’s computer lab.  The workshop was designed and prepared to selective students of the Library, Archives and Information Technology Department as a way to acknowledgement and appreciation for their dedication and exceptional contributions to AIKM.

The workshop focuses on emotional intelligence, as it is one of the most crucial skills that librarians and information specialists must acquire. It aims to raise awareness of EI and enhance individuals’ ability to understand and manage emotions effectively. It covers self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, social skills, and relationship management. The workshop was presented by Mrs. Nermine Rifaat, Director of the University of Hertfordshire Library in Egypt, and Dr. Dalia Gohary, Public Relations and Customer Service Manager at Orion Food Industries Factory.
